Hospitality, at its core, is about making people feel cared for. Ironically and paradoxically, this unselfish act of serving others is, in reality, selfish. This is the profound truth about kindness and service. The more we give, the richer we feel. This is, in fact, biological. Acts of kindness literally activate pleasure centers in the brain, triggering a release of the “feel-good” chemicals dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin. These are the same chemicals associated with happiness and stress relief, leading to what is called “the helpers high”. There is an undeniable emotional reward that comes from serving others. And we undeniably and unabashedly selfishly enjoy serving you.
Yes, serving others should feel good. That’s the beauty of it. The more we give, the more connected we feel. The impact we have through serving you, our customer, is astounding – and we believe, world changing. Hospitality brings communities together, bridges differences, and makes the world a more loving place. When we serve you each day, we believe we are reinforcing the very social fabric that keeps communities, families, and friendships thriving. Simple acts of hospitality remind us of our shared humanity.
It turns out that being kind and of service is not just one of the most important things in the world for others – but also one of the most rewarding things for us, too.
